What is ICCU Bengal Arena intended to be?
ICCU Bengal Arena is envisioned as a home for Bengal Athletics and a shared venue for university and community events. The proposed arena would welcome people from Pocatello-Chubbuck and the surrounding region to Idaho State University's Pocatello campus.
How many people will the arena seat?
The proposed arena is expected to seat 4,000 to 4,500 people in an intimate setting with an energetic atmosphere. The architectural design process will determine final capacity and features.
What is the estimated project cost?
The estimated total project cost is $75 million to $80 million. The cost will be finalized through architectural design.
How would the project be funded?
The arena project will be funded entirely through private gifts. ICCU's support is an important step toward making it possible. Additional support from alumni and community partners will be essential, along with gifts from businesses and Bengal fans.
When would construction begin?
Construction will begin once ISU secures all required private funding. A construction schedule will be established as design and fundraising progress.
The project will soon enter the architectural design and planning, which are expected to take about a year. Fundraising will continue during that work.
Where would the arena be located?
The arena is proposed for Idaho State University's Pocatello campus. The exact location will be determined through architectural design and planning.
Do the renderings show the final design?
No. The renderings illustrate the vision for the proposed arena. Architectural planning will determine its final appearance and location. That work will also establish what the project includes and its cost.
Could the arena host university and community events?
Yes. ICCU Bengal Arena is intended to welcome people from Pocatello-Chubbuck and the surrounding region for special events, subject to availability.
The arena design will consider performances and state tournaments. Planning will also examine how the arena could accommodate university commencement ceremonies and other events. Specific events have not been confirmed.
How would the arena affect parking?
The existing parking area near the ICCU Dome will be included in project planning and design. The team will evaluate parking needs for the arena and surrounding complex to provide convenient parking for fans and visitors.
