Favorite Professional Experience

I love to witness the positive emotions and optimism of new graduates as they embark on their journey into the future with hope, excitement, and anticipation. I really enjoy when graduates come back with news of landing their first job poised to apply their education, skills, and passion to make a meaningful impact on their lives and the world around them.

A little about me…

I am a proud Idaho native, born and raised.  With the exception of three years, I have lived in Idaho enjoying the great outdoors.  I have been married to the love of my life for 38 years. We have three sons whom all live in the Pocatello area and a fourth son, a beautiful German Shepherd fur baby.   I love anything which involves my family, the outdoors, camping, hiking, and snow skiing.  I love riding my Harley Davidson motorcycle as the wind is freedom.  Sometimes you got to get on that Harley and ride!

Favorite Professional Experience

Seeing students succeed in both their educational field of study, and in the Health Information professions, is one of my greatest rewards as an instructor.  When a graduate of the program reaches out and lets me know that they have passed their credentialing exam, or have obtained their first job in health information, I feel a true sense of accomplishment and pride in their achievements.

A little about me…

With the exception of time spent in the military, Idaho has always been my home.  There is a quality of life in Idaho that I have not seen anywhere else in the world.  Between us, my wife and I have 5 children and 10 grandchildren, with another on the way.  We enjoy spending time with our family and watching them grow. I am a science fiction geek and love a good sci-fi movie, TV show, or book, and am particularly drawn to the works of Isaac Asimov and C.S. Lewis.  I take pride in knowing that I am the same age as The Doctor, (Who), having arrived on planet Earth slightly before him.

Favorite Professional Experience

I served as a mentor one year at my clinic site for a local University for their Health Informatics and Information Management students. This particular year I had two students that did their rotation with me. I was able to show and teach them the ins and outs of what I did on a daily basis and how it was applicable to what they were learning in their courses. To this day, I still interact with them, and seeing them thrive and succeed in the health information management realm has been very rewarding.

“A Little about me…”

I was born and raised in Idaho and currently reside in Meridian. I enjoy baking, reading, photography, and crafting. I also appreciate all the outdoor activities that Idaho has to offer, such as camping and fishing. I have a passion for learning and you will often find me delving into an assortment of topics to deepen my knowledge and satisfy my curiosity.

Favorite Professional Experience

One of my favorite professional experiences was having the opportunity to train my successor at Oneida County Hospital. We made a plan that she would go through the RHIT Program at ISU, and then when I moved on, she would take over the Medical Records Manager position. We had no idea that when the plan originally came about, I would have the opportunity to become an instructor at ISU in the RHIT Program. Since that time my successor has taken in many students for the clinical practicum portion of the HIT Program Associate degree. It was a win-win situation for my successor, myself, the hospital, and ISU.
