The Program

Idaho State University is pleased to offer the ISU Book Bundle, a new course material delivery program. The ISU Book Bundle ensures that students have their required course materials on or before the first day of class. Through the ISU Book Bundle, physical books are conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis. Digital materials are delivered directly through Moodle. Upon registering for classes each semester, all Idaho State University students are automatically enrolled in the ISU Book Bundle. All students have the opportunity to opt out of the program each semester. With this new program, costs for all your required course materials will be added into your tuition and fees for $24.75/credit hour.

How it Works

Register for classes

Upon registering for courses, students will be automatically enrolled into the program. Once you've successfully selected your courses, the bookstore will start preparing your order.

Verify your order or opt-out

Starting 30 days before the first day of classes, you will receive an email, at your ISU address, to confirm your materials and select your fulfillment preferences (delivery vs pick up) or opt out.

Receive your materials

An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pick up or when it ships. Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Moodle.

Opt Out

We encourage students to enjoy deeply discounted and guaranteed course material for the first day of class. We also understand this program may not meet the needs of every student. If you do not wish to participate in the ISU Book Bundle program, you will need to opt-out every semester.

FAQs

ISU Book Bundle Program

The ISU Book Bundle is a course materials model that lowers the cost of materials for students and ensures students have access to all of their required course materials before the first day of class. Through the program, physical books will be conveniently packaged and provided to students on a rental basis, and digital materials will be delivered directly within Moodle. At the end of the term, students will receive email reminders to their ISU email addresses to return their physical course materials to the ISU Bookstore. With this new program, costs for all your required course materials will be added into your tuition and fees for $24.75/credit hour.

Studies show there is an increasing number of students who delay or avoid purchasing course materials, which negatively impacts their success. This program makes getting course materials easier and more affordable by reducing the cost of book purchases by an estimated average of 30%-50% and ensuring students automatically receive all their books and access to electronic materials in a convenient package on or before the first day of class.

ISU Book Bundle is available to all ISU students

Register for your classes and the ISU Bookstore will start preparing your course materials. You will receive a welcome email from Barnes & Noble 35 days before classes begin outlining next steps.

You will then receive a second email from B&N 30 days out instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup at no cost or shipped directly to you for a small fee). These emails will come from coursematerials@email.bncollege.com so be sure to check your junk/spam folder to ensure you have not blocked emails from this address.

An email notification will be sent to your ISU email address when your order is ready for pick up or when it ships.

Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Moodle.

The ISU Book Bundle provides all required course materials in print rental or digital formats. Course materials may include physical textbooks, lab manuals, access codes, and digital textbooks.

The ISU Book Bundle does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused such as lab goggles, dissection kits, art supplies, molecular model kits, engineering kits, or nursing kits.

All students will be automatically enrolled in the ISU Book Bundle program.

There may be situations where the ISU Book Bundle charge exceeds the retail amount for your books or does not benefit you in a given semester. For example, maybe one or more of your courses is utilizing no-cost materials or no materials at all. In this case, it might be a good idea to opt out for that semester. We encourage you to visit the ISU Online Bookstore to search for and review the costs of your required materials as compared to the ISU Book Bundle cost before making your opt-out decision. Remember to do your research every semester!

Students will be responsible for purchasing their required course materials through the ISU Bookstore or other sellers. If students opt out of the program and decide to purchase their materials through the ISU Bookstore website, they must use the “Opt Out” option for the semester in which they are attending.

The opt-out deadline will be one week after the last day to add/drop a class for fall semester courses.  That is three weeks after the start of Fall, Spring, and Summer.  The deadline for opting out for the Fall 2024 semester is Friday, September 6th.  For students registered in part of terms, especially the Late 8 week part of term, it is recommended that you register for your courses by August 30, 2024.  This still allows you the opportunity to opt-out of the book bundle.

Faculty Focused

No, there are no restrictions in the course materials you select for your course. All course materials, from any publisher, in your preferred format are included in the program.

Publishers do not have the ability to provide all the different formats of content that faculty request at the lowest price possible. ISU has contracted with Barnes & Noble exclusively to provide textbooks on campus.

If a faculty member changes their course material adoption, faculty should notify the ISU Bookstore of the new adoption, and the bookstore will ensure that students receive the corrected course materials.

The ISU Bookstore is committed to helping. Please communicate with us ASAP and we will work to update the textbook adoption platform with the new materials.

Faculty can find low-cost or no-cost affordability solutions, recommended in line with relevant courses if there are no OER campus restrictions with course materials for their course.

Students will pay for the total number of credits taken a semester, not by the number of courses utilizing the program. Students have the option to opt out for all classes in their term.
