Proposed changes to Faculty Policies -- faculty feedback due by Oct. 7, 2016
Faculty Senate developed and approved the following proposed policy revisions in April 2016, and is still soliciting faculty input and suggestions. This is a pre-review period before these policies are finalized and forwarded as recommendations for the regular ISUPP process and a 30-day review. Please email your responses to these policies to the Faculty Senate Office (firstname.lastname@example.org) or to your Senator, no later than October 7, 2016. All responses received by the Faculty Senate Office will be compiled without names attached and provided as anonymous suggestions to Senators for consideration as they finalize their policy recommendations.
Proposed Policies and Procedures (ISUPPs) under 30-day Review period:
Student Affairs: #5000 Student Conduct Code -- comments due September 24, 2016 (clean version)
Faculty Senate will discuss the following proposed policies in their September 26 meeting at 4:00 pm in REND 301; representatives from General Counsel and Human Resources (HR) will be present to answer questions. Faculty are welcome to attend and voice their concerns and questions about these proposed policies. Comments are due October 8, 2016.
Human Resources: #3050 Categories of Employees -- comments due October 8, 2016
The Office of General Counsel sends relevant proposed ISU Policies and Procedures (ISUPP) directly to faculty and staff for a 30-day comment period. As a part of this process, faculty and staff are encouraged to review and respond to the draft policies, and the Office of General Counsel provides a mechanism for direct faculty feedback.
To increase transparency and community discussion of issues that arise from these policies, faculty are also encouraged to send their comments to the Faculty Senate Office for confidential compilation and forwarding. In order to send comments, revisions, and reviews of ISUPPs to Faculty Senate, you may either (1) contact your Faculty Senator (see list found here) or (2) send your comments directly to the Faculty Senate Office (email@example.com). Faculty comments on ISUPPs sent to Faculty Senate will be combined and synthesized during regularly scheduled Faculty Senate meetings, before forwarding to the Office of General Counsel and other relevant administrative assemblies, such as the Council of Deans or President's Cabinet.
Please be sure to send ISUPP comments to the Faculty Senate Office at least 10 days before the end of the 30-day comment period.
Faculty Assemblies with Executive Vice President & Provost
Dr. Laura Woodworth-Ney invites the ISU faculty to participate in their respective assemblies where she will provide an update on the status of administrative initiatives, followed by a question and answer period.

Academic Dishonesty and Scholastic Appeals Boards
Faculty interested in serving on the Academic Dishonesty and/or Scholastic Appeals Boards should contact their Faculty Senate representatives. These two Boards convene on an ad-hoc basis when needed. More details about both Boards can be found in the following documents:

Athletic Advisory Board -- Faculty Reps Serve a 1 & 4-year term
Faculty members interested in serving on the Athletic Advisory Board should contact the Faculty Senate Office at firstname.lastname@example.org (ext. 4956) to have their names added to the list of nominees. Members of the Athletic Advisory Board are appointed by the Faculty Senate. For more information about the Athletic Advisory Board, contact the Board chair, Scott Benson (ext. 2860).
Faculty Ombuds - Call for Applications and Nominations
The Office of Human Resources is calling for applications and nominations for potential faculty Ombuds. An Ombuds is a resource to assist faculty and staff with informal problem-solving activities on campus. Contact Stacy Marshall (x3081) for more information or to request an application form.
Activity Insight: Faculty Feedback Requested
The Office of Institutional Research recently made changes to streamline and simplify the use of Activity Insight and is soliciting feedback from faculty on the usefulness of those changes. Constructive and honest feedback regarding strengths and weaknesses of the system will help guide future improvements. Please send responses to Lorie Chatfield at email@example.com or ext. 3762.
