Expected Learning Outcomes

Enhanced Clinical Competency:

  • Demonstrate proficiency in assessing, diagnosing, and managing respiratory conditions using evidence-based practices.
  • Improve understanding of advanced respiratory care techniques, including mechanical ventilation, airway management, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Utilize and manage advanced respiratory care technologies and equipment, including monitoring devices, ventilators, and diagnostic tools.
  • Apply critical thinking and analytical skills to evaluate patient conditions, interpret diagnostic results, and develop individualized treatment plans.

Interprofessional Collaboration and Leadership:

  • Collaborate effectively with healthcare professionals from various disciplines to provide comprehensive and coordinated care for patients with respiratory conditions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and contribute to shared decision-making processes.
  • Demonstrate leadership and management skills in respiratory therapy settings, including supervising staff, managing resources, and implementing quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and procedures that enhance respiratory care delivery and patient safety.

Research and Evidence-Based Practices:

  • Integrate current research and evidence-based guidelines into clinical practice to improve patient outcomes and advance the field of respiratory therapy.
  • Conduct and/or participate in research activities to contribute to the body of knowledge in respiratory care.
  • Adapt therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based medicine. Effectively communicate changes needed based on patient responses and evolving clinical situations.
  • Stay updated with technological advancements and integrate new technologies into practice as appropriate.
