Orbit Dependent on V

Overview:

Orbits have a dependency on the velocity of whatever is traveling in the orbit. With more velocity, the larger the orbit gets and vice versa.

Materials:

Rubber stopper and brass ball tied to a string running through a PVC pipe.

Setup:

Place PVC pipe on a table for easy access.

How to:

Hold the PVC pipe vertically with the brass ball at the bottom. Then spin the top of the PVC pipe until the rubber piece starts to orbit around the top. Spin the top faster and slower to see what happens to the orbit.

Safety:

Do not spin it too hard, the string may break.
