.jpg)
PIRA: 1F20.40
Overview:
When the dowel rod is hit with the object, the inertia of the rod keeps it from exerting force onto the wine glasses. Once the dowel is broken, there is no more force to be transferred to the wine glasses and they are kept from shattering
Materials:
4’ x ¼” dowel
2x small nails
2x coffee cans
2x wine glasses
Something to break dowel
Setup:
Drive a nail into each end of the dowel, then cut off the head of the nail. Place the coffee cans onto two separate tables with a space in between them. Place a wine glass on each of the coffee cans. Place the dowel off to the side.
How to:
Place the dowel onto the glasses. Make sure that the nails are the part resting on the wine glasses. Take the object meant to break the dowel and quickly hit the middle of the dowel with it.
Safety:
Do not swing at other people.
