Civil Engineering Leading Multi-University Study to Strengthen Idaho's Bridges

Every winter, Idaho's bridges face a relentless assault. Freeze-and-thaw cycles crack concrete, and deicing salts corrode steel. Beneath the surface, water and chemicals quietly eat away at the reinforcement holding it all together. Now, ISU researchers are leading a team that’s working to find a way to fend off the worst of what humans and Mother Nature can throw at these structures.

Diesel program, Instructor Tommy Gunderson Earn Top Honors from Idaho Division of Career Technical Education

Idaho State University's College of Technology is bringing home two honors from the Idaho Division of Career Technical Education this year, with the Diesel Technology/On-Site Power Generation program named Postsecondary Program of the Year and instructor Tommy Gunderson named Postsecondary Educator of the Year.

Perryman Company Gift Funds Ongoing Titanium Alloy Research at Idaho State University

Recently, Perryman Company funded the Perryman Company Civil Engineering Research Fund at Idaho State University, supporting research into one of the planet’s strongest materials - titanium. ISU researchers, with support from Perryman Company, have been investigating the use of titanium alloy bars in construction since 2017.
