Using Images in Your Quiz Questions
January 15, 2026
To ensure a smooth term following our move to Canvas, we encourage a quick "digital spring cleaning" of your quiz images to prevent any technical hurdles for your students.
Check Your Quiz Images
- Preview Your Quizzes: Check your Classic Quizzes or New Quizzes to ensure all images display correctly.
- Download Originals from Moodle: If an image needs updating, download the original file from your Moodle ISU course (Right-click > Save image as…). Please do not use copy/paste.
- Embed with Cidi Labs: Use the Cidi Labs Upload/Embed Image tool to re-upload images. This allows you to edit, crop, and adjust your images for improved stability, responsive scaling, and improved accessibility. (Plug icon > View More > Cidi Labs Upload / Embed Image)
- For more details: Working with Images using DesignPLUS
- Tip: Learn more about the Cidi Labs DesignPlus tools at ITRC Workshops offered through the Center for Instructional Excellence.
Bonus Tip: Best Practices for Naming Image Files
- Be Descriptive for You: Use clear names like Bio101_Mitosis_Diagram_v2.jpg for easy searching in your files.
- Be Discrete for Students: Use neutral names like Cell_Structure_Question_4.png to avoid giving away answers.
The ITRC is always here to help you navigate these tools in ISU Canvas. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have questions or need assistance.
