UDOIT for Canvas: Small Tool, Big Impact
December 1, 2025
There’s a powerful tool already available in Canvas that can help you strengthen accessibility in your Spring 2026 courses—and it takes only minutes to use.
TigerTracks features a focused, step-by-step guide—Using UDOIT Advantage in Canvas to Improve Course Accessibility—that walks you through running scans, interpreting results, and applying recommended fixes. If you haven’t explored it yet, this resource offers a simple and efficient way to improve your course design.
UDOIT Advantage checks for issues like missing alt text, heading structure errors, inaccessible documents, and color contrast concerns, then provides guided corrections you can complete right inside Canvas. Regular use of UDOIT not only enhances the student learning experience but also supports ISU’s preparation for updated ADA Title II expectations.
Explore the TigerTracks guide, run a UDOIT scan in one of your courses, and try out the guided corrections.
You also have additional tools at your disposal:
- What Can You Do with UDOIT Advantage? (Video 2:18 min., CC)
- Canvas’s Accessibility Checker (Video 2:25 min., CC) in the Rich Content Editor for quick, in-the-moment fixes.
- Accessibility Support for ISU Courses (Instructor-Only Resource), now included in every Spring 2026 Canvas course, with practical guidance and quick references that make accessible design easier.
All of these tools integrate seamlessly with Canvas to help you create inclusive, accessible course materials—ready for Spring 2026 and beyond.
For support with the UDOIT accessibility checker or any other questions or concerns related to your ISU Canvas courses, please contact the Instructional Technology Resource Center (ITRC).
