Award recipients will be honored at a special reception in April and recognized during the 2026 Commencement ceremony.
Nominations are now open for the Distinguished Teacher, Service, and Researcher and are due by 5pm on Friday, January 16, 2026. Additional information and nomination forms are available online.
Distinguished Teacher Award
Faculty members who demonstrate excellence in teaching go beyond simply delivering content-they inspire curiosity, foster a supportive learning environment, and engage students in meaningful ways that promote deep understanding. They are also recognized for their innovative teaching methods, mentorship, and dedication to student success. Nominees must be in their third or subsequent year of full-time service at ISU and must continue as faculty during the 2026-2027 academic year. Nominations are welcomed from ISU faculty, staff, students, and alumni - nominees must be named by at least two of the aforementioned groups to be considered for this honor.
Distinguished Service Award
A faculty member is selected for this award based on significant contributions in service to the University and society. This can include activities such as leadership in university committees, active involvement in community outreach, mentorship of colleagues and students, and initiatives that enhance campus life or strengthen university programs. Please consider service attributes only. Elements such as research and teaching are not to be considered for this award. Nominees should be any member of the University faculty currently in his/her third or subsequent year of full-time service at ISU and will continue as a faculty member for 2026-2027. Nominations are being sought from ISU's faculty, administration, and the public.
Distinguished Research Award
The ISU Distinguished Researcher Award recognizes faculty members who have made significant contributions in research that benefit both the University and society. This award honors those whose research demonstrates innovation, scholarly impact, and advances knowledge in their field. Nominees must have completed at least three years of full-time service at Idaho State University and continue as faculty during the 2026-2027 academic year. Nominations are welcomed from ISU faculty.
