Jeannie Vahsholtz Recognized for Service to National Organization

Jeannie Vahsholtz, clinical assistant professor in civil engineering technology and surveying and geomatics engineering technology programs has been recognized for her valuable participation and service for regularly attending development meetings for the National Council of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors (NCEES) headquartered in Greenville, South Carolina.
Vahsholtz’s participation with NCEES began in July 2024 when invited to be on the committee to develop and write Public Land Survey System (PLSS) exam questions for the NCEES. Since then, Vahsholtz has traveled to the NCEES headquarters to attend writing exam sessions in May 2025 and August 2025.
Vahsholtz was also asked to join the Fundamentals of Surveying committee. The FS Exam is a national exam administered to all future land surveyors to test and ensure a minimum standard of competence in subject matter areas. To be an FS Exam writer, one must possess at least a baccalaureate degree and also possess a professional license in surveying. The FS committee reviews and creates all exam topic categories pertaining to comprehensive surveying subjects such as surveying mathematics, boundary law, geodesy, photogrammetry, and various other surveying topics. Established metrics, studies and iterations are used to assist in the type and structure of meaningful and measurable assessments.
Vahsholtz obtained an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering Technology from Idaho State University, a bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Technology from Idaho State University, and a master’s degree in Engineering Technology – Geodesy emphasis from the University of Maine in Orono. She is a professional licensed surveyor (PLS) in Idaho and past President of Idaho Society of Professional Land Surveyors (ISPLS).
