Science and Engineering Exploration Camps for Local Youth Slated for June and July

May 24, 2023

Idaho State University’s College of Science and Engineering, along with the Idaho Museum of Natural History, Marshall Public Library, and My World Discovery Museum will be hosting a series of free summer activities for kids of all ages.

Starting Thursday, June 1, faculty and staff from ISU will host more than a dozen Science and Engineering Exploration Camps youth. Kicking off with Steve Shropshire, professor of physics, explaining the science of sound and music, the free camps aim to demonstrate what students can achieve in the science and engineering fields through hands-on activities. Activities that are currently planned include building robots, developing video games, creating earthquake maps, identifying rocks and minerals, and more.

“We look forward to sharing these free opportunities to learn more about STEM fields with the youth of East Idaho,” said Joshua Pak, professor of chemistry at Idaho State University. “Kids of all ages can learn about these concepts in a fun and inclusive environment.”

A list of free activities and more information can be found at isu.edu/cose/seecamps. Registration is required, and there is no limit on how many activities a child or teen can attend.

The Science and Engineering Exploration Camps are made possible through a grant from the NASA Idaho Space Grant Consortium.
