Katie Thomas Named AVP for Human Resources

June 1, 2023

After a thorough national search, Katie Thomas has been appointed Associate Vice President for Human Resources. Thomas has served in this position as interim since January 2022, and has continued to demonstrate exemplary leadership for the campus community.

Thomas brings several years experience in leading and developing HR programs in higher education at both Idaho State University and Boise State University. With a background in organizational development and strengths-based leadership, she has continually demonstrated her dedication to fostering a positive working culture with leadership values centered in trust, compassion, stability, and hope. Katie’s strengths-based approach and focus on organizational culture has contributed to a strengthened sense of community, inclusivity, and teamwork across all our campuses since her arrival at ISU in 2018.

"I am confident in Katie’s ability to help build a strong Bengal community where our faculty, staff and students thrive," said Vice President of Operations Brian Sagendorf.

Sagendorf said he also wanted to convey a sincere thank-you to Karina Mason Rorris who led our search committee through the national search effort, and that he appreciated the time and effort that our search committee put into the search throughout the course of the spring semester.
