Corey Zink Named Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

March 16, 2023

After a national search, Dr. Corey Zink has been named Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management.

Zink has worked at Idaho State University since 2013, when he accepted the position as the Director of Student Services for the College of Technology, where he served until 2019, also earning his Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration. In 2019, he accepted the role of Executive Director of Academic Advising and Assessment for the Division of Student Affairs.

In recent months, Zink has provided support to the division during some significant transitions, serving first as the interim Dean of Students and subsequently as the interim AVP for Enrollment Management, while maintaining his standing responsibilities as the Executive Director of Academic Advising and Assessment.  In this latter role, Zink has worked to restructure undergraduate advising at Idaho State as a more unified, student-centric, and proactive student service. He has also guided our institution through the implementation of an industry-leading student success platform, EAB Navigate.

In his roles, Zink has worked to improve enrollment and retention by connecting with students in several ways. He worked closely with college leadership to ensure that 100% of first- and second-year students had an assigned academic advisor. He and his team designed and implemented “ROAR into Registration,” a universitywide registration event which has increased the percent of undergraduate students that re-enrolled for their next term in a timely manner by 5 percent in the fall and 9 percent in the spring. He was also instrumental in the creation of Bengal Connect, a mentoring program for first-year students, and improving advisor training and development.

These initiatives have helped Idaho State University to experience an increase in first year undergraduate retention rates by 7.2% over a two-year period (Fall 2020-Fall 2022) and an increase in continuing student undergraduate enrollment for the first time in a decade.

Prior to coming to Idaho State, Zink served as the Senior Director of Enrollment Management at Olivet Nazarene University, Bourbonnais, Illinois, from 2006 to 2013, where he supervised an Admissions team of over 20 individuals in recruiting activities and led in the design and implementation of a strategic enrollment plan, as well as the implementation of a new CRM platform.
