Dr. Cory Bennett Presenting with Local Teacher on Innovative Remote Learning Practices
April 19, 2021
Dr. Cory A. Bennett, Professor of Mathematics Education in the College of Education, and Mr. Mick Morgan, fourth grade teacher from Jefferson Elementary School in the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District, are presenting their current research findings on creating equitable mathematical discourse in remote learning contexts at the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics annual conference. This presentation stems from their recent joint publication "Developing Norms with Silent Discussions" also through NCTM.
NCTM is the leading mathematics teacher organization in the world with approximately 150,000 members and this will be the second time Dr. Bennett and Mr. Morgan have presented at this prestigious event. “It is amazing to see local educators shine on the national stage” said Dr. Bennett, “it speaks volumes to the quality and caliber of professional educators we have right here in Southeast Idaho.”
