College of Technology Launching Virtual Recruitment Fair and Tech Expo

March 8, 2021

Idaho State University's College of Technology is hosting a virtual Tech Expo on Thursday, March 18 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and 3 – 7 p.m. Tech Expo is a large open house style event giving prospective students the opportunity to engage with the more than 30 programs the College of Technology has to offer. In previous years, Tech Expo introduced thousands of high school students to college and career path opportunities available through the College of Technology.

Normally hosted as an in-person event, Covid-19 caused the event to be cancelled in 2020 and with current restrictions in place, Tech Expo has now been moved to a virtual format. With the new virtual setting, the college is aiming to provide prospective students throughout the state of Idaho as well as neighboring states with the opportunity to explore programs, engage with faculty, and find potential career fields beyond the bounds of current in-person limitations.

The College of Technology will be utilizing a very sophisticated virtual fair hosting service called vFairs. vFairs offers a virtual fair-like atmosphere and provides amazing opportunities for interacting with prospective students. Virtual booths for each program will be decorated with graphics and photos to best represent each program. Each booth will have information participants can download, videos to watch, and a live chat feature to ask faculty questions. Webinar sessions will be available to view in the virtual auditorium where the college will have guest speakers and special demonstrations. In addition, there will be a scavenger hunt that allows participants to find fun giveaways throughout the fair that will help to encourage participation in the event.

Through the vFairs system the College of Technology is aiming to provide an educational fair highlighting business, industry, and hands-on educational opportunities while promoting viable career and technical education in Idaho. Registration is now open for the event and interested participants can register for free at isu.edu/techexpo.
