Resources for Parents and Remote Employees

August 20, 2020

With the start of the semester, many of our staff and faculty continue to juggle multiple priorities and we have more employees working remotely than we have in the past. For faculty and staff who are also parents, we know there is an additional challenge this year as childcare facilities and school districts vary in their ability to open and serve families.

To support our students and employees who are also parents or caretakers of children during this time, Counseling and Testing Services (CATS) has developed two new Communities for Parents within their CATS Connections program. These are weekly, Zoom-based 1-hour meetings facilitated by a member of the Counseling and Testing staff.

Faculty/Staff who care for children

When: Wednesdays, noon  - 1 p.m., starting Aug.19

Where: Meetings are over Zoom. REGISTER

Students who care for children

When: Thursdays, noon - 1  p.m., starting Aug. 20

Where: Meetings are over Zoom. REGISTER

Additionally, ComPsych, our State of Idaho Employee Assistance Program (EAP) has developed a Return to School Digital Toolkit with additional resources to support parents and caretakers during this time.

Employees who continue to work remotely or those who supervise teleworking employees are encouraged to review our Remote Work Resources for additional tips and tricks. Looking for additional ways to manage stress? All employees are invited to join the CATS weekly Online Mindfulness Meditation. No experience necessary, it's free and all are welcome!

Online Mindfulness Meditation
