In recognition of the 20th Anniversary of AmeriCorps, two Idaho State University AmeriCorps Programs, Idaho Community HealthCorps and Idaho Health Care for Children and Families, will have a statewide swearing-in ceremony for 2014-2015 AmeriCorps members in Pocatello.

The ceremony will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19, in the Idaho State University Eli Oboler Library’s Distance Learning Classroom B03A. The library is located at 850 S. 9th Ave. in Pocatello. It will be broadcasted to Meridian, Coeur d’Alene, and Moscow.

Building up to this event, on Thursday, September 11, in honor of 9/11, five AmeriCorps members served at a booth in the Pocatello Fred Meyer where they collected toys and craft items for 34 “Family Hero Packs” to give to children of Idaho military families.

Additionally, nationwide a simultaneous swearing-in of AmeriCorps members in every state and territory, on the same day, at the same time, took place to replicate the first swearing-in ceremony done on Sept. 12, 1994.
