The Idaho State-Civic Symphony will perform a Pops Concert "Classical Ellington, That Do-Wah Thing!" at 7:30 p.m. March 9 in the Stephens Performing Arts Center’s Jensen Grand Concert Hall that features music from the jazz master Duke Ellington.

Who says jazz and classics don't mix? This concert is a chance for music lovers to jazz up their own musical experience with the Idaho State-Civic Symphony and, direct from New York City, the POP/Jazz Band as they present "Classical Ellington," a program entirely of Duke Ellington and Luther Henderson’s jazz collaborations.

The evening is also a major fundraiser for the Symphony and a variety of raffle items will be available. Patrons can begin viewing the raffle items at 6 p.m. in the Stephens Center Rotunda.  Pre-concert activities include a no-host bar.  Raffle tickets will be available before the concert and during intermission, with the winners to be announced directly following the concert.

Post-concert activities include a $10 dessert reception immediately following the concert where patrons can mingle with friends and meet the artists.

To purchase pre-event raffle tickets, or make reservations for the after-concert reception ($10 per person), contact Rayna Valentine, 208-233-7081.

Raffle tickets are $1 each. A complete list of raffle items is available at http://www.thesymphony.us/2012/12/pops-fundraiser. Tickets must be purchased in advance or at the concert, but winners need not be present to win.

Samples of raffle items include season Symphony tickets for two with reserved parking on concert night; Idaho Ballet tickets to "Swan Lake," hotel, dinner and gas card for two; Lava Hot Springs getaway; cabin for 15 in Swan Valley; golf package; and Fly-Fishing Excursion.
