Auditions for ‘The Ugly Duckling’ summer musical to be held April 27 at Idaho State University Goranson Hall

Auditions for a June production of the musical "Honk! A Musical Tale of 'The Ugly Duckling'" will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 27, at Goranson Hall in the Idaho State University Fine Arts Building.

The musical is being presented by the Idaho State University School of Performing Arts and the Community, Alumni, Theatre/Dance/Music Summer Theatre at ISU, also known as C.A.T.

Actors of all ages are welcome.

Participants should prepare a 30-second comic monologue and 16 bars of a song and participants should bring the sheet music for the song. Pianist will be provided.

The musical will be shown on June 14, 15, 17, 20, 21 and 22 at the Beverly B. Bistline Theatre of ISU Stephens Performing Arts Center. All shows will begin at 7:30 p.m.

The musical, produced by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe, is based on Hans Christian Andersen’s “The Ugly Duckling.” The show has been performed worldwide in more than 8,000 productions and in many different languages. It has won multiple awards including the 2000 Olivier Award for Best Musical.
