Midlife Madness, a three-day healthy lifestyles workshop designed for women over 50, is being hosted by the Idaho State University Anderson Gender Resource Center and is funded in part by the Department of Health and Human Services Office on Women.

The workshop is free, but space is limited.

"We are excited to have numerous health professional experts from ISU and the community lined up to discuss ways of maintaining health and activity during midlife changes. Research indicates the need for increased women's health education in this age group," said Bonnie Frantz, project director.

Women will gain knowledge on best practices in chronic disease management, heart health, medication management and behavioral health. Participants will engage in Tai Chi and yoga exercise options from trained leaders. Two dinners will be included featuring body image and nutrition strategies to embrace as one ages.

The event is scheduled from 4 to 9 p.m. Aug. 16 -17 at the Reed Gymnasium on the Idaho State Campus. On Saturday, Aug. 18, activities begin in the morning with a walking tour of art along the Greenway followed by a health resource fair for women over 50.

Registration is open until July 23 at www.isu.edu/andersoncenter.
