Idaho State University Senior Art Exhibition runs Oct. 10-21 at Davis Gallery

The fall 2011 Idaho State University Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Fine Arts Senior Exhibition is scheduled Oct. 11-21, with an opening reception Oct. 10, at the John B. Davis Art Gallery in the lower level of the ISU Fine Arts Building.

This exhibition will feature artists Drew Bailey, Colette Christensen, Cassidy Robinson and Samuel Vineyard. The Oct. 10 opening receptions runs from 6 to 8 p.m.

 All events are free and open to the public.             

Bailey was born and raised in Blackfoot. As a teenager, he was privileged to study India ink drawing with Willy Preacher and had a brief apprenticeship with Richard Bingham, both of Blackfoot. Bailey served in the military and was stationed in Vicenza, Italy. Upon returning home, he attended Eastern Idaho Technical College majoring in business and webpage design. Bailey plans to graduate with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Department of Art and Pre-Architecture and a minor in history in December. Bailey’s work can be seen in the Pocatello city park of Old Town Pocatello, and outside the sculpture studio of Idaho State University. Bailey plans on working towards a Master of Fine Arts degree relating to his studies in jewelry and metals.

Colette Christensen was born in Pocatello and graduated from Skyline High in Idaho Falls in 2006. She is working towards a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Department of Art and Pre-Architecture and a Bachelor of Science degree in secondary education. She works primarily with mixed media, pastel, and acrylic paint.

Cassidy Robinson was born in Jackson Hole, Wyo., in 1985 and was raised in Southeast Idaho.  Robinson graduated from Century High School in 2004. He plans to graduate with his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the Department of Art and Pre-Architecture in December 2011.  Though studying many forms and mediums while attending ISU, his focus will remain in drawing, painting and printmaking for his undergraduate show.

Samuel Vineyard was born in Eden and is currently a resident and local barista in Pocatello. In 2008 Vineyard earned an Associate of Arts degree in liberal arts from the College of Southern Idaho. This December he will receive his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the ISU Department of Art and Pre-Architecture. He works mainly with intaglio etching and mixed media drawing.

The John B. Davis Gallery hours are Monday-Friday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
