Idaho State University will hold the 2009 International Economic Summit in the Pond Student Union Ballroom on Nov. 3. The event will host more than 250 students from area high schools. The International Economic Summit program is sponsored through the ISU Center for Economic Education.

The ISU Foundation has been awarded $3,000 by US Bank for the International Economic Summit program. The $3,000 donation will be used to pay for all of the student-team fees, making the program more accessible to area high school students that otherwise would not have been able to attend. The donation is expected to noticeably increase attendance.

The International Economic Summit provides high school students with the opportunity to explore basic economic concepts within the theme of international trade. The summit is an enactment of a large scale simulation of the global economy. Student teams, representing various nations of the world, will compete for resources, form strategic alliances, debate global issues and seek to stabilize and advance the global economy.

Teams will be comprised of the following high schools: Ririe High School (10 teams), Blackfoot High School (five teams), Soda Springs High School (six teams), West Side High School (four teams) and Highland High School (28 teams).
