ISU Workforce Training, The Hospital Cooperative provide leadership development

Idaho State University WORKFORCE TRAINING is continuing their collaboration with The Hospital Cooperative (THC), by offering a THC Leadership Development Series to assist hospital staff members improve their managerial effectiveness. “We value our training partnership with The Hospital Cooperative,”   said Joseph Fleishman Director of Workforce Training for the College of Technology at ISU.

The first session, “Stress and Burnout” was held earlier this month. Staff members from eight hospitals attended the March workshop. Ralph Jones, retired department chair for Business and Services at Idaho State University College of Technology, led discussion topics to help individuals understand the causative factors of stress and burnout, how to prevent it, and how to manage employees who show signs.  Following the groups session, PHC peer network meetings were conducted.

Two additional professional development series seminars will be held to compliment this first session. The next THC Leadership Development Series program will be held in June, with a focus on problem solving.  The third in the series, to be held in September, will cover on business communications.

Through collaborations such as this, WORKFORCE TRAINING is helping THC meet their continuing education initiatives. “Working with Jon Smith, Executive Director, we are able to support the ongoing education needs of the Hospital Cooperative members.  This training is an excellent example of the versatility of WORKFORCE TRAINING in meeting the educational needs of our community.  We provide high quality, affordable and accessible training that can help any business and their staffs function more effectively.”

WORKFORCE TRAINING at ISU provides short-term training in a variety of areas, including computers, business, health care, apprenticeships in the building trades, and professional development to provide youth and adults with technical skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary for successful performance in a highly effective workplace.

With public and private support, THC operates the Cooperative Telehealth Network to deliver educational and clinical services to rural areas using state-of-the-art telenetworking technologies.
