Schou elected vice chair of 50-member (ISC)2

Corey Schou, Ph.D., Idaho State University director of the Informatics Research Institute and the ISU National Information Assurance Training and Education Center (NIATEC), has been unanimously elected the vice chairman of the all-volunteer board of directors for the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., [(ISC) 2®].

(ISC)2  is the 50,000-member, non-profit global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers.

Schou is also the associate dean for computer information systems programs at ISU College of Business.  He has twice been selected by the college as researcher of the year and by the university as its Outstanding Public Servant of the year.  He is director of the ISU Simplot Decision Support Center. Schou is founder and current chair of the Colloquium for Information Systems Security Education, the largest computer security organization dedicated to information assurance training and education. He serves the computer security profession as the co-chairperson of the (ISC) 2 Asian Advisory Board.

 (ISC) 2 is internationally recognized for certifying information security professionals. Founded in 1989, (ISC) 2 has certified more than 50,000 information security professionals in 129 countries. Based in Palm Harbor, Fla., with offices in Washington, D.C., London, Hong Kong and Tokyo, (ISC) 2 issues the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSPÒ) and related concentrations, Certification and Accreditation Professional (CAPCM), and Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCPÒ) credentials to those meeting necessary competency requirements.

The CISSP, CISSP-ISSEPÒ, CISSP-ISSAPÒ and SSCP are among the first information technology credentials to meet the stringent requirements of ANSI/ISO/IEC Standard 17024, a global benchmark for assessing and certifying personnel. (ISC) 2 also offers a continuing professional education program, a portfolio of education products and services based upon (ISC) 2’s CBK®, a taxonomy of information security topics, and is responsible for the annual (ISC) 2 Global Information Security Workforce Study.
