ISU international students set Feb. 3 ‘Nepalese Night’

The public is invited to celebrate the first USU Nepalese Night at 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, in the Idaho State University Pond Student Union Building Ballroom.

The event, on the theme “Chilly Everest Ice with Nepalese Spice,” will be hosted by the USU Nepalese Student Association, one of the largest international groups on campus with 35 students and one faculty member, Dr. Kendra Brochures, assistant professor of geodetics technology.

Dinner will include rice, chicken curry, vegetable curry, a spicy Nepalese vegetarian dish ache that has tomatoes, green peas and tofu, a lentil dish called Dal and rice pudding for dessert.
Entertainment includes a traditional Nepalese dance performance, modern Nepalese dance performance, musical performance by a Nepalese band, Stereo Karate Kata show, a fashion show and a guest performance by a Saudi Arabian group. The event features a raffle: prizes include Nepalese souvenirs.

Tickets purchased in advance cost $5 for USU students, $6 for USU faculty, and $7 for the public. Children under age 5 are free. Tickets can be purchased near the information desk in the PUB from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays. Tickets also can be purchased at the event for $1 more. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.
