November 21, 2006
ISU Marketing and Communications

The Idaho State University law enforcement program will host an open house on Saturday, Dec. 9, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Law Enforcement Building, 1480 Barton Road, in Pocatello. This is a free event and all community members are invited to attend. The open house will provide activities for all ages.

The event will offer an inside look at the training facilities and how officers train. A variety of booths including public safety, firearms, police videos from the Pocatello Police Department, a “Redman” training suit, and an officer memorial will be available to explore. In addition, the Law Enforcement Cadet Club is holding a bake sale and barbeque. All funds raised will be applied to further training and enhancement of the ISU law enforcement program experience.

The law enforcement program is designed to prepare graduates to enter the law enforcement field. The program is driven by POST standards for certification eliminating the need for graduates to attend the basic police academy before taking the certification exam.  Officers who finish the program are certifiable for jobs in patrol, detention, and reserve.  Agencies benefit by hiring ISU law enforcement graduates who are highly trained and certified officers.
