Events, Workshops, and Symposium

Join us during the academic year for workshops where ISU colleagues share their expertise and experience. Events include:

  • Faculty Lecture Series: Fun, engaging talks framed around “One Thing Everyone Should Know About…”. Designed for a broad audience—including faculty, staff, students, and community members—these sessions highlight big ideas in accessible ways.
  • Master Teaching Series & Pedagogical/Assessment Workshops: Practical, hands-on sessions where faculty share evidence-based strategies to strengthen teaching and assessment. Walk away with fresh ideas you can apply right away in your courses and programs.
  • Faculty Learning Communities (FLCs): Small groups of faculty and staff who meet regularly to dive into a shared theme, such as inclusive teaching or student engagement. FLCs provide a supportive space for cross-disciplinary conversation, reflection, and collaboration, helping build a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Annual Teaching Symposium: A half-day event that brings faculty together to explore a central theme in teaching and learning. Each year features a guest speaker and hands-on activities designed to help participants translate ideas into practice. This year’s focus will be on supporting the success of first-generation students.
