Office of Field Experience

The Idaho State University College of Education's Office of Field Experience supports teacher candidates before and during student teaching by providing the necessary information and guidance for the student teaching internship. Placement length, structure, and placement opportunities differ depending on the specific course requirements.

Focus areas: Pre-internship placement, Student Teaching Preparation and Placement

Alyssa is set to graduate with her Master's Degree in Communication December 2026. Professionally, she has worked in higher education since 2019, beginning in the Kasiska Division of Health Sciences advising Pre-Health students. From there, she moved into recruiting for the College of Technology before accepting the position of Director of CTE Advanced Opportunities, where she developed the CTE Dual Credit program until 2025. Now she calls the College of Education home, and enjoys placing students in their clinical experience placements as the Clinical Experience Placement Coordinator.

Mahlet Asfaw is an Administrative Assistant for the Office of Field Experience and the Kent Center for Student Success, with a background in customer service and insurance management. She specializes in administrative coordination, effective communication, and providing support to students, staff, and partners with professionalism and efficiency. Her experience has enabled her to develop strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a service-oriented approach, contributing to a welcoming and well-managed academic environment. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Management from Unity University and an Associate degree in Insurance from the Ethiopian Institute of Banking and Insurance. Outside of work, she enjoys roasting coffee and preparing traditional Ethiopian foods for her family.
