The Story of The Center
Where Experience Became Vision. Then, Where Vision Became Impact.
Our Story:
The Center for Accessibility, Leadership, and Innovation grew from the heart of Disability Services at Idaho State University. From years of walking alongside students, listening to families, supporting educators, and witnessing firsthand the barriers that still exist within our systems.
The Center was created because we believe our community deserves more than reactive solutions. We believe in building environments where access is expected, belonging is natural, and opportunity is not limited by barriers.
We exist to give back to the community that shaped us, to strengthen schools, workplaces, and institutions so that individuals with disabilities and those who support them can learn, contribute, and thrive with dignity. Through partnership, research, and shared leadership, we are building sustainable systems that serve not just today’s needs, but future generations.
Because accessibility is not accommodation.
It is an expression of care.
Care is what builds strong communities.
The Center for Accessibility, Leadership, and Innovation CARES.

Access Was the Starting Point. Innovation was the Next Step.
For years, Idaho State University’s Department of Disability Services envisioned a centralized hub, a dedicated space where accessibility efforts could be unified, strengthened, and expanded. That vision became an initiative.
The Center for Accessibility, Leadership, and Innovation now serves as that hub. Working directly with students, educators, community members, and workforce leaders across the nation to remove barriers, expand access, and advance inclusive solutions across systems.
