Staff Council Seeking New Members

March 21, 2024

Do you want to be part of a team dedicated to the success of ISU staff members from all campuses? Are you passionate about finding ways to celebrate your team members? Do you know someone who strives to make a positive impact, or is that person you? If so, we want you on Staff Council! Our website is a great resource to learn more.

Staff Council is a great way to get involved in things that matter most to our staff while celebrating our successes. We strive to be engaged, inclusive and build relationships to foster communication and collaboration.

Our members are talented, engaged, and actively find ways to improve our work environment! Take a look at what some of our members had to say about Staff Council:

  • My favorite part of being on Staff Council is helping to plan and attend events. I enjoy the opportunity to meet and engage with staff from all campuses -Lisa Wise, University Business Officer, Finance
  • I joined Staff Council to make ISU a better workplace by advocating for staff, amplifying our voices, and promoting an excellent employee experience - Jena Lords, Administrative Assistant, Educational Technology Services
  • I have learned so many things being a part of Staff Council, especially how ISU operates. While initially I joined to fix a specific problem, my goals now are just to learn as much as possible so I can help to educate other staff about the University and help build relationships across campus. -Theresa Capasso, Director of Advancement & Foundation Services, Advancement
  • Staff Council has given me an opportunity to engage in ways I never imagined. I have learned so much about the University and had the opportunity to engage with leadership, the President’s Office, Human Resources, the budget office, ASISU, Faculty Senate and awesome Bengals representing all areas of the University. -Jessy Sears, Director of Emergency Management, Public Safety

Staff Council membership is more than just a monthly meeting; it provides an opportunity for members to play an active role in initiatives that impact the personal and professional welfare of the ISU staff. We work hard to provide staff with professional development opportunities with scholarship money, putting on lunch and learn events and FUN events that help bring us together as a Bengal community!

We currently have three vacancies for classified staff and five vacancies for non-classified staff. Representatives are elected to a three-year term beginning in May 2024 and ending in May 2027.

If you want to get involved with Idaho State and learn more about the impact our staff has on the University, please submit a picture and a brief explanation of why you want to be a part of our team at staff@isu.edu. Hurry nominations are due March 25th. We look forward to working with you! Go Bengals!
