Why are faculty, staff, alumni and retirees charged to use the Student Recreation Center?
Student fees are the primary funding source for both the construction and ongoing operations of the Student Recreation Center. The philosophy behind the fee is that all who use the facilities should help pay for its operations. Membership prices for employees, alumni and retirees are comparable to the $85/semester full-time students pay through their student fees.
Do students need to buy a membership to use the Student Recreation Center?
No. Students support the funding of the Student Recreation Center directly through their student fees.

May a spouse purchase a membership if the employee/alumnus/retiree has not?
Only spouses of full-time benefited employees can purchase a membership independently. Spouses of part-time staff, adjuncts, affiliates, retirees, and alumni can only purchase a membership after the initial membership has been purchased.
What types of memberships are available?
You may purchase a semester or yearly membership. Day passes are also available. Semester memberships start August 15, January 1, and May 15. The price of a semester membership will be pro-rated at the first of each month during the semester.
