Main Gym
Reed Gym opened in 1951 as the largest venue in the state of Idaho. Reed Gym hosts the offices of Campus Recreation, Health and Nutrition Sciences, Wellness Center, Sports Science and Physical Education, Women's Volleyball and Tennis. The Main Gym is home court for volleyball, women's basketball, and a few men's basketball games. The addition of the Tennis Center in 1978 and Recreation Gym with Climbing Wall in 1998 has helped expand opportunities for student recreation. An addition that will include much expanded fitness areas is scheduled to open sometime in 2010. Main Gym

With sideline seating of over 3000, the Main Gym is mostly used for Physical Education Classes, Athletic practices, Athletic Contests and Intramural Sports. When not programmed the courts are available for open recreation.
Besides home athletic contests Reed Gym has hosted concerts, robotics competitions, judo tournaments, cheer competions, speakers, and a colorful Pow Wow each spring
Swimming Pool

The Reed Gym pool is a 6 lane X 25 yard pool with a 3 1/2 foot depth in the shallow end and a 10 foot depth in the deep end. Pool temperature is kept at approximately 83-85 degrees. Currently the swimming pool is used for lap swimming, recreational swimming, P.E. classes, intramurals, swim meets, and pool rentals. For more information go to our aquatics website
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.
Men's and women's locker rooms are located on either side of the pool area and contain showers, dressing areas, restrooms, lockers, and a dry sauna.
Dance Rooms
Two Dance Rooms with mirrors are used by Physical Education Classes, Wellness Center Get-Fit Classes, Student Organizations, and people who just drop in to workout or practice
Dojo

The Reed Gym Dojo was once home for Idaho State Boxing. Now covered with nice Tatami mats, the room is used for judo classes, pilates classes, yoga classes, and is the practice facility for the Idaho State University Judo Club
Weight Rooms

Located Downstairs, the weight areas have free weight and selectorized options for those wanting to get stronger.
Cardio Room

Located downstairs, the cardio area has ellipticals, bikes, steppers, rowers, and treadmills for those seeking a good cardio workout. The cardio room is open during all building hours.
Tennis Center, Running Track, and Racquetball Courts

The Tennis Center has 4 indoor tennis courts, 6 racquetball courts, indoor running track (7.5 laps = 1 mile) and 3/4 size basketball court.
Recreation Gym and Climbing Wall

Open in 1998, the Recreation Gym has two basketball courts and a climbing wall on the South Side. The gym is used for open recreation, climbing classes and Intramural Sports.
The 125 ft x 35 ft climbing wall is one of the largest of it's kind in the nation. With 19 top rope stations, 4 rappel stations, and 17 lead routes the wall provides a challenge to climbers of all abilities and skill. During open climb you'll have to sign a waiver and pass off on skills (or be taught skills if you are new) to access the wall. Shoes, harnesses, carbiners, belay devices, and chalk bags are available for check out (free). Minors (under 18) are not allowed to top rope or lead belay but will be able to climb.
