Call for Proposals - Service Learning Forum

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to propose poster-style presentations on service learning initiatives and projects for a poster-style resource fair, part of a Service Learning Forum to be held in late September. Presenters will develop a poster, handout, or multimedia display on their project, deliver a three-minute talk about it, and answer questions for attendees. Proposals should be submitted to the organizers (contact information provided below) by Friday, August 24 at 6p.m.

The poster-style resource fair will emphasize course-based service learning, but the organizers invite proposals related to other service learning projects, such as internships or community outreach.  We welcome proposals from individuals or groups. Proposals should include: a project title; information on the presenter(s) (name, title, institutional affiliation, role in project, and contact details); a 250-word description of the project; and a description of equipment needs.

The Service Learning Forum aims to connect faculty, staff, and students involved in service learning, and to provide resources and models for those interested in developing their own service learning projects. The forum will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 in the Pond Student Union on the ISU – Pocatello campus, and will include the poster-style resource fair (4-5:30pm), a keynote lecture with Roberta Rosenberg, coediteor of the award-winning Service Learning and Literary Studies in English (5:30-7pm), and a reception (7-8pm).

For more information, please contact event organizers Jessica Winston, Professor of English (winsjess@isu.edu) or Matthew Levay, Assistant Professor of English (levamatt@isu.edu).
