Charles Speer Accepted to Register of Professional Archeologists


Dr. Charles A. Speer has been accepted to the Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA) this spring. The RPA is a national organization that seeks the establishment and acceptance of universal professional standards in archaeology.The RPA is also a listing of archaeologists who have agreed to abide by an explicit code of conduct and standards of research performance and who have completed work that address substantive archaeological research questions.

Speer and his two graduate students, Daniel Parker and Michelle Carpenter, presented research at the Society for American Archaeology meetings in Vancouver, British Columbia last week. Dr. Speer presented on experimental archaeology using porcelain replicas of stone tools, Daniel presented on prehistoric glues and adhesives, and Michelle presented on the diet of early Jamestown colonists.
