Author David Abrams to Read April 21

On Thursday, April 21 at 5:30 p.m., author David Abrams, a retired Army journalist, will read from Fobbit, a novel in tradition of Catch-22. Fobbit satirizes soldiers stationed at forward operating bases (FOBs) during the Iraq war who feared leaving the safety of the FOB. The New York Times Book Review has called Fobbit "a very funny book, as funny, disturbing, heartbreaking and ridiculous as war itself." Hilarious and tragic, the novel shows a rarely seen side of war.

This event is free and open to the public. It will be held in the Salmon River Room (Middle and South Forks) of ISU's Pond Student Union Building. Light refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m, and the reading begins at 6:00 p.m. The event is sponsored by the ISU's College of Arts and Letters and ISU's Cultural Events Committee. Contact the Department of English and Philosophy at 208 241 2478 with any questions.
