May 7, 2026
Idaho State University is advancing sustainability through its growing e-waste collection program, bringing together campus, community, and regional partners for meaningful impact.
Hosted at ISU’s Student Union Building in partnership with Ecyclers and Idaho National Laboratory, the university successfully organized two collection events: December 13, 2025: 34 households, 1,987 lbs collected
April 25, 2026: 116 households, 7,311 lbs collected
In total, 150 households helped divert 9,298 pounds of e-waste from landfills. The second event saw a 268% increase in collection, highlighting strong growth in community participation and awareness. This surge reflects a shift toward more responsible disposal practices and reinforces the importance of accessible sustainability programs. The events brought together teams from ISU, Ecyclers of Idaho, and Idaho National Laboratory, ensuring smooth coordination and execution.
By diverting over 9,000 pounds of electronics, the events help reduce environmental risk and promoting a circular economy. This initiative marks a significant step in the university’s sustainability journey and demonstrates the impact of strong partnerships. ISU remains committed to continuing this collaboration and expanding efforts, making e-waste recycling a lasting and impactful part of campus sustainability.
