Nick Shiosaki Named Chief Information Security Officer

March 26, 2026

Nick Shiosaki was recently appointed the permanent Chief Information Security Officer for ISU.

Shiosaki has been a part of Idaho State University in nearly every possible capacity since the late 1990s: undergraduate student, student employee, classified employee, non-classified employee, faculty member, graduate student, and alumnus.  Having been such an important piece of his life and career, he is passionate about the University's mission and contributions to the community.

"Nick accepted the interim role last fall and has brought stability, vision and focus to the cybersecurity team," said Renae Scott, ISU's chief information officer. "He also recently completed his CISSP certification, which reflects his dedication and commitment to the position. I am very pleased to have Nick in this pivotal role moving forward."

The Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) is responsible for overall planning, development, implementation, and oversight of the University’s campus-wide information security program. The CISO works collaboratively with the campus community to establish information security programs, including: information security policy, practices, and standards; information security awareness and training; information security incident response and management; risk assessment and management; and cybersecurity related IT architecture. Additionally, the CISO serves as the primary information security liaison to federal, state, local and professional organizations.
