ISU's AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Program Seeks Volunteers
January 12, 2026
ISU's AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP program (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program) combats social isolation and loneliness and supports mental wellness among seniors in Bannock, Bingham, Power, and Shoshone counties.
The program pairs senior volunteers 55 and better with socially isolated peers to foster connection through regular interactions. Each volunteer is matched with two seniors, spending 1.75 hours in-person and conducting two 30-minute phone calls with each participant monthly over a three-month period. This initiative promotes meaningful relationships and improved quality of life for older adults in rural Idaho communities.
Staff will provide training and assist with hosting an introduction meeting as well as provide ideas for activities as needed. We are also looking for community partners to support the program and health care facilities to act as volunteer stations for the volunteers. If you're interested in volunteering or partnering with us, please contact Annie Mendoza at 208-282-6275 or email rsvpseniors@isu.edu to get started.
