Finance and University Planning Leadership Update

June 4, 2026

Jen Steele will conclude her service to ISU as Vice President for Finance and University Planning on July 1, 2026 as she moves on to Oregon State University to serve as Deputy Chief Financial Officer. We are extremely grateful for Jen’s leadership, commitment, and the many contributions she has made to ISU during her tenure. Her work has helped position the university for continued progress and long-term success.

Fred Parrish, who is currently serving as the Chief Budget and Planning Officer, will serve as Interim Vice President for Finance and University Planning to include all finance functions and Institutional Research. Fred has held several key financial leadership roles across campus over the years. He has been a University Business Officer for the College of Science and Engineering, the Office of Research, and ISU Athletics, and has been central to designing and managing the university’s budget model. His focus has always been on aligning ISU’s financial resources with its academic mission and strategic priorities.

In addition, Lisa Leyshon, Associate Vice President and University Controller, will provide leadership for Strategic Technologies and the Innovation Hub. Lisa has played an important role in advancing innovation, technology, and strategic collaboration across the institution.

This interim leadership plan will provide continuity and stability for the division while also supporting several of the university’s strategic priorities.

We are deeply appreciative of both Fred and Lisa’s willingness to step into these important leadership roles, and appreciate Jen for her years of service for the university.

As we continue progressing through the Bold Path Forward Together budget reduction initiatives, we recognize the critical importance of strong leadership in Finance and University Planning. To support the university’s long-term financial strategy and institutional priorities, we will move forward with a national search for the next Vice President for Finance and University Planning this summer. We anticipate filling the position by the end of the fall semester, and the campus community will have opportunities to be involved throughout the search process.
