Crafting a Student-Ready Campus: Speaker and Date Announced for the 2026 Teaching and Learning Symposium
February 26, 2026
Is our university designed for the students we serve? Being student-ready is not about lowering standards or reducing rigor. It is about recognizing that learning environments, course structures, and instructional choices shape how effectively students can engage with complex material.
Faculty, staff and graduate students are invited to attend the 2026 Teaching and Learning Symposium, happening Friday, March 13 from 9 – 11 a.m. in the Pond Student Union Salmon River Suites. The Teaching and Learning Symposium is a free annual event presented by the Idaho State University Center for Learning and Instructional Excellence (CLIE), formerly the Program for Instructional Effectiveness (PIE). The symposium aims to inform and empower educators across campus with presentations, workshops and networking opportunities. This year’s keynote speaker is member of the Council for Opportunity in Education, Dr. Aaron Brown, who will present on how faculty practices shape learning, discovery and student success. The symposium will begin with a 45-minute interactive presentation examining relevant data on today’s students while exploring practical approaches such as experiential learning and intentional uses of technology. The remaining 75 minutes will focus on an interactive workshop where participants reflect on their own courses and exchange ideas and promising practices with colleagues.
Registration is required, with free breakfast from 8 – 9 a.m. for the first 75 registered. Register by March 9 here. The presentation will be broadcast to all ISU campuses.
