CPI Program Eligibility Change Effective July 1
May 7, 2026
Effective July 1, 2026, eligibility for the Career Path Internship program will be limited to students at the junior level or higher, with an exception for College of Technology students.
This change is intended to help preserve the integrity and sustainability of the CPI program by prioritizing students who are further along in their academic programs and closer to entering the workforce. The program is designed to provide meaningful, career-connected experiences that help students apply their academic learning in professional settings.
Current CPI student employees who do not meet the junior-level eligibility requirement as of July 1, 2026, will need to end their CPI appointment no later than June 30, 2026. This may apply to current freshman or sophomore students who will not have reached junior standing by that date. College of Technology students may continue to be considered for CPI appointments under the program's exception.
Supervisors are encouraged to review current and planned CPI appointments with this updated eligibility requirement in mind. Departments with questions about how this change may affect current or future CPI appointments may contact the CPI office for assistance.
