Date/Location: April 6, noon - 1 p.m., REND 129 and via Zoom
Description: Effective visual design organizes and presents information in an intuitive, consistent, and appealing manner so that students can focus their attention on the content itself, rather than on making sense of the organization of the content. Feedback Literacy 101: Teaching Learners to Understand, Use, and Value Feedback
Presenters: Cyndee Harmon, clinical instructor and clinic manager and Camille Biorn, assistant professor and junior clinic coordinator, ISU Dental Hygiene
Date/Location: April 8, noon – 1 p.m., REND 129 and via Zoom
Description: Student Feedback Literacy is an emerging higher education framework that emphasizes students’ ability to understand, interpret, and use feedback to improve learning. Like reading and writing, meaningful engagement with feedback is a skill that can be developed. Feedback-literate students take an active role in learning, adopt a growth mindset, and apply feedback effectively. The model focuses on four areas: appreciating feedback, making informed judgments, managing emotional responses, and taking action. It also promotes a collaborative environment in which feedback flows both ways and students take ownership of their progress by seeking out and using feedback to support their development.
