Celebrate ISU's 125 years with Choral Music and Poetry

March 19, 2026

On March 13, the Treble Choir, Concert Choir, and Chamber Choir presented a special anniversary concert honoring the remarkable year 1901—the founding of ISU and the birth year of poet Langston Hughes. The program featured music by Averitt, Brahms, Puts, Augustinas, Morley, Bonds, Gjeilo, Runestad and more. Diana Livingston Friedley performed a set of Langston Hughes’ poetry, weaving spoken word into an evening that reflects on legacy, voice, and community.
Watch the concert on YouTube to celebrate 125 years of voices—then and now.
