Call for Nominations: 2026 ISU Excellence in General Education Teaching Award
March 2, 2026
Nominations are now open for the 2026 ISU General Education Teaching Award. Instructors at all ranks, in all general education objectives, are eligible for nomination. Winners for each objective will be recognized on campus. Additionally, winners in Objectives 1–6 will be entered into the statewide competition for the GEM Innovative Educator Award (GEM Award).
This year’s award highlights faculty who effectively integrate High Impact Practices and Durable Skills into their courses - or prepare students for them later in their academic careers - and who demonstrate a strong commitment to general education, educational access, affordability, and Open Educational Practices.
Faculty must be nominated by a dean, department chair, or faculty colleague. Nominees will be expected to provide a candidate statement and a sample assignment from their general education course. Details on what to include and how faculty nominees will be evaluated can be found here.
Nomination materials must be submitted to GERC (gercmail@isu.edu) by March 27. Campus winners will be notified in early April. The State Board of Education plans to announce state-wide winners in early May.
Winners of the statewide GEM Awards will receive a plaque and a $500 honorarium and will be recognized at the 2026 GEM Summit, October 1-2, 2026, in Boise, Idaho.
