Ben Park: CPI Intern of the Month

February 4, 2026

Ben Park is a secondary education major who completed a 12-week student teaching internship at Firth Middle School, a rural community in Idaho. During his placement, Park taught five physical education classes to over 120 students.

“My internship allowed me to be more confident in myself and helped me see the things that I am good at and where I could improve,” explained Park. “This experience has helped with my future plans as it has given me the practice and experience to go out and experience what it is like being a teacher, making lesson plans, and using things learned in classes at ISU, and applying it to my experience in the field.”

While gaining experience in his field of study, Park also made a difference on the court with his pupils. Park taught a volleyball unit to some of his students, including some who had never played volleyball before. Through dedication, time, and patience, Park was able to help students improve their skills.

“Benjamin has demonstrated exceptional dedication, particularly in building strong connections with his students,” stated Mona Heern, director of clinical experience for the ISU College of Education. “He consistently demonstrates care and support for all students, understanding the importance of acknowledging each student's background and experiences.”

Originally from Firth, Idaho, Park graduated in December 2025. Park enjoys the great outdoors, playing sports, and spending time with his family.
