Graduate Students Invited to Share Research at Fourth Annual Arconexiones Graduate Student Conference
October 26, 2026
Idaho State University’s Spanish Master of Arts program is inviting graduate and upper-level undergraduate students from any discipline to submit presentation proposals for the fourth annual Arconexiones Graduate Student Conference to take place virtually on Saturday, February 20, 2027. Presentations may be delivered in English or Spanish and are due by Monday, December 7, 2026.
This year’s theme, “Cartographies, Spaces, and Borders: Exploring Limits and Possibilities” (Cartografías, espacios, y fronteras: explorando los límites y las posibilidades), welcomes original research across a variety of disciplines, including literature, history, education, art, theatre and cultural studies related to Spain, Latin America and the Hispanic world.
The one-day virtual conference will feature research panels, opportunities for discussion and collaboration, keynote presentations and a roundtable examining how community nonprofits work with Idaho’s Hispanic and Latino communities.
Keynote speakers include Abel Arango of Skidmore College, whose research examines Central American cultural production, citizenship and poetry by undocumented Central American youth, and Professor Luis Benavides of ISU’s Department of Art, whose work in documentary film and digital media explores video, installation and archival materials.
“Arconexiones has been a key part of our Spanish MA program experience for the past four years,” said Marin Laufenberg, faculty advisor to the conference and director of the program. “It brings students together, gives them practical experiences in our field, drives everyone's curiosity and research forward, and creates lasting collegial friendships among presenters and among organizers.”
The entire ISU community, including faculty, staff, undergraduate students and graduate students, is invited to attend the conference. Students from any institution worldwide are welcome to submit proposals for consideration.
