Emeritus Professor presents Mathematical Poetry

James Wolper, Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, recently presented some of his mathematical poetry at the Bridges Math/Art Conference at the University of Galway, Ireland. The Bridges organization aims to encourage artistic endeavors with mathematical themes. Wolper read two poems, "Changes and Deltas," which compares delivering a Mathematics lecture to playing jazz, and "Ode To The Unit Circle," a reinterpretation of Elizabeth Barrett Browning's sonnet "How Do I Love Thee?" He also read at an Open Mic in Dublin.
