Staff Council Year in Review

Idaho State University Staff Council proudly recognizes the exemplary accomplishments of its members during the 2024-2025 term. Staff Council’s dedication to advocating for an engaged, inclusive, and professionally empowered staff has demonstrated its impactful influence, which has strengthened the ISU campus community.
Engagement, Inclusion, and Visibility:
- Amplified staff inclusion and visibility across all university campuses, hosting monthly events, and ensuring all staff were included and involved.
- Renewed staff participation in policy development and review before the 30-day comment period, and included staff input in decision-making processes in shared governance.
Strategic Planning and Improvement:
- Conducted a mid-cycle review of the Staff Council Strategic Plan, reviewed goals and objectives to identify key areas for growth and improvement.
- Released the 2025 Staff Council Staff Engagement Survey - a crucial tool for assessing staff satisfaction and guiding future events and initiatives.
Staff Professional Development:
- Secured an additional $3,500 in one-time funding for the staff professional development fund for a total of $5,000 to support more staff - special thanks to President Wagner for this generous support.
- The Professional Development Committee led a revision of the professional development application process, including the creation of a clear rubric to ensure accessibility and fairness.
Staff Appreciation and Recognition:
- Collaborated with campus partners for the celebration of Staff and Faculty Years of Service recognition events, honoring commitment and longevity in meaningful ways.
- Celebrated accomplishments and recognition through programs like Be-A-Bengal and others across campus.
Land Acknowledgement - Staff Council Meetings:
- Initiated the inclusion of the land acknowledgment at the beginning of Staff Council meetings.
- Planning to continue efforts to draft a joint statement in recognition of all tribes with campuses located within reservation boundaries, representative of ISU’s commitment to honoring Indigenous communities.
Jena Lords’ leadership has left a lasting impact on Staff Council and the ISU community. Her commitment to excellence, inclusion, and staff advocacy has elevated the role and reach of Staff Council. Thank you to Jena and Staff Council for their outstanding service during the 2024-2025 term.
